What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file your browser stores on your device when you visit a site. We also use "local storage" for tools that live on your device. The key difference: local storage is not sent automatically with every request the way cookies are.

Categories in use

CategoryPurposeWhat we actually useControl
Essential (consent)Resolving your region and remembering your choiceThe km_geo cookie (one day) carries your country code for the consent default, and km_consent (180 days) stores your choiceManaged from your browser's cookie settings
On-device tools (local storage)Remembering your preferencesPantry and saved recipes live in localStorage on your device and never leave your browserClear browsing data in your browser
AnalyticsMeasuring site usageGoogle Analytics 4 through gtag.js: after consent it sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) and receives basic page views — never your name, email, or assistant chat textWithdraw consent (delete km_consent) or browser settings
AdvertisingServing and measuring adsWe currently serve no ads, set no advertising cookies and load no ad scripts—

How to control them

  • In your browser settings: delete cookies or block them entirely or for specific categories.
  • To withdraw your analytics consent: delete the km_consent cookie in your browser settings — your choice is cleared and re-evaluated on your next visit (in consent regions the consent banner appears again).
  • To clear local tool preferences (pantry and saved): "clear browsing data" in your browser.

Note: blocking all cookies can limit some functions on sites in general, but KitchenMind's core tools will keep working because they do not depend on them. The wider picture is in the privacy policy.

Consistency with the privacy policy

This page and the privacy policy describe the same system: essential consent cookies (km_geo, km_consent), first-party analytics cookies (_ga) once consent is granted (Google Analytics 4), local storage for on-device tools, and no advertising today. Any future change is updated in both pages together.
